Rev's Rabbits

Chocolates, Tricolors, Steels and other rare Holland Lop Colors

About Rev's Rabbits (formerly Jessie's Bunnies):

Lately I have had a lot of people ask about my rabbitry name so I wanted to explain.  It's pretty simple actually.  When most people hear my name they think of the Rev. Jesse Jackson.  Rev has become my nickname among friends and I liked the alliteration of Rev's Rabbits so I settled on that.

My name is Jessi Jackson and I am 22 years old.  I just graduated (May '09) Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.  Since graduation, I have begun taking the science courses necessary to pursue medical school at UMCP.  I work at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center researching the possible association between celiac disease and neurological problems, specifically schizophrenia.  If you're interested in this research, feel free to contact me!

I began showing and breeding rabbits at age 11 after I purchased my first rabbit from the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.  That rabbit was Tune's Lancelop and to this day he has gotten the most wins of any rabbit I have owned with ten GC legs and many BOBs.  I bred rabbits under the rabbitry name Jessie's Bunnies which you may still find at the top of some of my pedigrees.  After just a year of breeding, I became fascinated with the colors and genetics.  I looked everywhere to find the information but at that time it was hard to come across.  Once I did find it, I taught myself the color genetics.  There was really limited purpose in that though because you just couldn't find Holland Lops in color!!

In tenth grade I began spending more time playing ice hockey than showing rabbits.  Between hockey and becoming frustrated with not finding colors, I sold out.  In the summer of '07 I started searching the internet and found that the colors in HLs had dramatically changed.  I got my first trio all the way from British Columbia, Canada from Creator's Critters.  They included a lilac, and 2 black chocolate carriers.  Since then I have added quite a few colors and lines.  I feel I missed out on some of the type at first but I think I have managed to bring a lot of that in now as well.

I want to thank everyone who has helped me through the long 7 years of breeding and showing; particularly the Tune's for convincing me to get such a great first rabbit and all of my new friends in the rabbit world who have provided me with nice stock and make the shows that much more entertaining!

Tune's Lancelop- I wish I had a better picture to show how good he looked in his youth!

Creator's Kola- My first and prettiest chocolate carrier doe.  I only wish I'd had more time with this sweet girl.
